THIS CAME TO ME TODAY IN THE FORM OF AN E-MAIL FROM A GUY THAT I WORK WITH WHO IS ALSO IN THE BAND BLACK CABBAGE. As much as I know this won't make any difference in getting anyone to come out to enjoy an evening full of ear-damaging and senses-assaulting fun, I still feel obliged to keep you all apprised of our continuing efforts to make a dent in the large boredom and repression hazes currently holding our fair city in a virtual deadlock. Therefore, it gives me great pride and pleasure to announce that this Friday, July 23rd 2004, at approximately 10:00 PM at the legendary and mighty Pat's in the Flats concert venue and drinking establishment, the following shall take place: BLACK CABBAGE will be presenting the debut of their brand new non-duo-bass format - with nearly all-new songs, a bigger, more intense new sound/s, and the same old lousy attitude you've come to expect, in a bold new experiment in headthrobbing envelope-pushing attempts at expanding the concepts of 'entertainment'. No audience member left behind! DEAD PEASANT INSURANCE will likewise be presenting their own scathing atomic blast of sound and ideas, this night once again taking it up a notch with further augmentation by the experimental noisicians of THURSDAY CLUB. And kicking the lively festivities off to a running start will be the debut of THE WHITE HESITATIONS, a band so new that the paint hasn't even dried on their new parking spot sign, but featuring people you've been seeing and hearing around town for quite a while now, putting a new spin on loud roots Canadiana/Minnesoteana.. Our first practice was exactly two months to the day before our first show. How about that for motivated practicing? Also in the band, besides me, is Ken (ex-Mice/ex-Workhorse) and Dirt and Tim who will be playing their first rock shows ever. Now, having been in the band sleepykid for over a year, I am very used to people not coming to our shows. But let me tell you, I know all of the asshole reasons that nobody comes to sleepykid shows and they’re all bullshit. OK. It’s bullshit. That said. If you do not come to this show, you are a total bust out and you can bite me. Yes. It feels good to say that people who don’t come to see my band play can bite me. I feel much better now. What is a good cut off for eating at night? I know that you are not supposed to eat right before you go to bed. Right? But when should I stop eating. 7:00 p.m. Is that good? I am wondering. I have been eating a banana before bed. Is that OK? My Chuck (not the other Chuck) is a well known e-mailer to the Assholier than Thou Good Times Happy Friends Monday Morning Radio Show Starring Baby Fea (yea!). He is also a legendary e-mailer at work. One of his e-mails today made me laugh out loud repeatedly and call other people I work with who don’t get his e-mails to tell them about it. When I e-mailed him back to tell him it was a classic. He said thanks and then commented that he may have gone over the line. He sure did. But, damn, was it funny. More work shenanigans as somebody who was mocked years ago was mocked again because a new person became aware of this person and the fact the he is completely mock-able. I am not as in as bad of a mood today as I was the last couple of days but it seems like yesterday never ended. |
