Brother Ray is dead. Fuck. Between Brother Ray and Ronald Reagan. Who do you think was the greater man? Who do you think did more for society? Who do you think I will miss more? If you guessed Ronald Reagan, stop reading this BLOG. Damn it. Now Ray Charles dying really sucks. Brother Ray – he was good.

I am sorry for saying that John Paul Jones and Pete Thomas were playing with Glenn Tilbrook on Monday. I was wrong. I guess it was just wishful thinking on my part. The real show is noted below.

At the Beachland - August 10, 2004 - Mutual Admiration Society featuring Chris Thile, Sara Watkins, Sean Watkins (of Nickel Creek) and Glenn Phillips (of Toad the Wet Sprocket) plus special guests Pete Thomas (Elvis Costello and the Attractions) and John Paul Jones (Led Zepplin).

Genius + Soul = Ray Charles.

I would tell you exactly what I played the last two times on the Rock and Roll Radio Show but I don’t think that it is important. That said, I played a bunch of stuff that reminds me of my friends or the college radio experience. The last two songs I played were “My Youth” by Pegboy and “Walk Away” by Bad Religion. I played these songs for reasons that should be very obvious and, if they are not, it also is not that important.

I met Tom Ericsson for coffee today, although I did not bring him any. I probably should have. The conversation was the same one that we have been having for years. That is definitely a good thing.

I am prepared for something bad to happen. Now that I have accepted that this bad thing might happen, I will sit and wait. I won’t be shocked if it does and if it doesn’t, that will be a nice surprise.

It was hotter than hell at Groove Machine practice tonight in the Sinner’s Gross Garage. Now I know why Lynyrd Skynyrd were so good. It is the heat and the humidity.

I just got done walking around with Laurie. I feel like I am going to drop. Maybe in the shower. Maybe in the bed. I am very glad I put the air conditioner in right now.

Laurie and I just got home from seeing Wilco in Pittsburgh, PA. Good show. I am planning on saying something about it tomorrow on the Assholier than Thou Good Times Happy Friends Monday Morning Radio Show Starring God Monkey Auntie Baby Fea (yea!). Also, tomorrow afternoon is the last time that I will be doing the Rock and Roll Radio Show. No fanfare. No hoopla. No nothing. It's just over. I think Scooter is doing one last show next week and that’s it. Rock on. Tomorrow.
