Still painting. Today, I had to do my first do over. I woke up. Looked at the ugly color. Primed. And then put on two coats. I just finished. I am on my way out the door to rock out with Viva Caramel. Thea and I are hitting it together for the first time in months. I am looking forward to some fun. That’s it. I have to go.

I am on vacation. I am painting the downstairs of my house. For fun. Today, Laurie went to school and to work so I had just the jams to keep me company while I got my brush on. Here’s how it went:
I started off with the Move’s first album. Plus 16 bonus tracks. Pre Jeff Lynne. “I Can Hear the Grass Grow”. I listened to it twice.
I listened to over five hours of live Iron Maiden. Hell yeah, brother, fucking Maiden. That’s right, over five hours. I heard the song “Iron Maiden” many times. Same with “Running Free”. That song would make a great cover for St. Andrej although Boulder already does it. Iron Maiden kicked the ass. However, I found myself getting weird towards the end of it. I threw up many goats. (And I did not even eat a goat.) I screamed along with the crowd when Bruce Dickinson said scream. It was not totally weird because I do, indeed, love Iron Maiden but it was still a little weird.
It was eight o’clock this evening. I was dragging. I needed that little something to get me over the top. Bad Company. Self-titled debut. Enough said.
I am coming down from a day of manual labor. I am listening to Guided by Voices. “Isolation Drills”. Big ups must go out once again to listener Mark for dropping this one on me. “Isolation Drills” will always be the rebirth of Guided by Voices for me and for that, I will forever be thankful.
Tomorrow. More painting. Band practice. And I am going to force myself to answer all of my e-mails. So do not player hate me until after tomorrow and you did not get one back from me.
Life is me kicking ass.

Two shout outs for today:
One goes out to my wife who kept up with me while we started painting the kitchen and the dining room today. She moved. I was impressed.
Second goes out to The Rock and Roll Butler who took me to the Gund Arena tonight for the final Cavs game of the season. Great seats. Club. Above the visitor’s basket. The Cavs won. Without Ricky Davis. Go figure.
Today, I read, painted and went to a basketball game. That is all.

I mailed my taxes out today. On tax day. For the first time ever. I felt like a real Joe Schmo at the post office on Orange driving up to the box late this afternoon. Am I slipping? I don’t know. Probably. I drove some stuff that I am storing at my parent’s house to Garfield Heights after that. I drove down Broadway during rush hour – like I used to do back in the day. I can still blow any Cutlass Calais in Slavic Village out of the water off the light. Challenge me at East 55th Street. I dare you. My mom and I talked for a while. She had much fuel for the fire that is the epic length book about the history of the Southeast suburbs that is starting to burn inside me. Working title: South of Cleveland. Big ups to Matt of Viva Caramel for giving me a practice bass drum this evening. I was home kicking it all night. Until I went to see He Who Can Not be BLOGGED About on This Website Ever Again – Ever. Big ups to him too for giving me my regular drum kit. Man, I am surrounded by great dogs. I am missing NYPD Blue now so I have to boogie. Later.

I went to Chicago, IL this weekend. I just got back. My wife and I went to see Guided by Voices open up for Cheap Trick. We stayed with my friend Kevin who I have been friends with since the third grade. He still makes me laugh at the same jokes we have been telling since we were little kids. That is awesome. I (I think we. I think Laurie had fun.) had a good time. I am pretty whipped right now and I don’t want to see the state of Indiana ever again. I think it wants me but I can’t go back there. I will have a full blown road trip report on tomorrow’s Assholier than Thou Good Times Happy Friends Monday Morning Radio Show. Also on the radio program tomorrow – special guests: Viva Caramel. Get pumped. Get psyched. I know I am. Good night.
